The 6th overseas Congress on Photosynthesis happened from 1 to six August 1983, at the Campus of the "Vrije Universiteit Brussel", in Brussels, Belgium. those lawsuits include lots of the medical contributions provided in the course of the Congress. The Brussels Congress was once the biggest to this point held within the sequence of foreign Congresses on Photosynthesis. It counted over 1100 lively contributors. The organizers attempted to reduce the hazards of any such huge dimension by means of making greatest use of the facili ties on hand on a college campus. such a lot contributions have been provided within the type of posters that have been displayed in a considerable variety of study rooms. The dialogue periods, two times an afternoon, 4 or 5 in parallel, happened in classrooms within the very area of those study rooms. during this method it was once tried to generate the ambience of a small assembly. The cohesion of the topic Photosynthesis was once preserved within the ten plenary lectures, organ~sed in this type of manner common evaluate of 2 different issues was once given each day. moreover, there have been the 5 instances 4 parallel symposia facing a few six teenager normal subject matters. each editor of complaints of a congress is confronted with the matter of enhancing and arranging the contributions, an issue compounded by means of the huge variety and the big variety of the 753 manuscripts.

Comparative measurements were performed with trypsin and an arginine-specific protease. MATERIALS AND METHODS Preparation of Class II pea chloroplasts (stroma-free thylakoids) and methods of 14c-herbicide binding are described in Vermaas et al. 1983. 6. The incubation time is indicated in the figure legends. To analyze the degradation pattern of -among others- the 32 kDa protein, pea leaves were painted with 35s-methionine and allowed to incorporate this amino acid for 3 hours in the light. Then, thylakoids were isolated from these leaves.

The carbonyle of ureas and the ring nitrogens of triazines have been proposed to play an homologous role (A. Trebst, w. Draber, 1973). They could engage an interaction with the same component of the binding site, but the triazine ring interaction would be far more decreased by triazine resistance. Some inhibitors, such as metribuzin, which contain both aromatic ring nitrogens and carbonyle, are intermediate between ureas and triazines towards triazine resistance. This prompted us to investigate the nature of the interactions that ureas and triazines can form with some analogs of amino-acid residues, using in vitro systems.
